Since 2016 we have moved internationally several times, and our most recent move, early July 2023, was with AGS Belgium. We have had a prior good experience with them, but this time our experience was so incredibly bad it actually doesn’t even deserve 1 star. The move lasted 6 days instead of 2, and we could write a book about everything that went wrong. From people not showing up, to people showing up drunk, to people showing up and then leaving again, showing up too late, to screaming and completely unprofessional behavior. Some refused to pack anything that had been open, another just put it in boxes without even looking, another put perishable food like bread in a box, … We had already left the country and had family members supervising, who had supervised a move of ours before, and they really needed to supervise the team very closely. In the end they had to help packing themselves until almost nighttime, and they had to be there so many hours during these 6 days, while the moving team was totally unreliable, it was never sure if and when somebody would show up. The team also did not always have the correct material, f.i. they promised a wooden case for a valuable painting but showed up with 1 that was only 1/3rd from the necessary size and we don’t know what happened in the end. They left mess and material behind, forgot to pack stuff that needed to be packed, even furniture. This giant delay caused us to miss the original shipping date of the container, at least that’s how we understand it because on top of all this, there is also a complete lack of information. We have informed AGS about this and sent them a very detailed report about the whole ordeal, written by our family members (one of them even used to work for a moving company and said he has never ever seen anything like this!). They didn’t even bother to reply to us! To this day, almost 3 weeks later, we have no idea if our goods are shipped and when, when we can expect them, let alone what we will receive in the end and in what condition our goods have been packed and will arrive, if they will arrive at all. This is highly unacceptable, and in all our international moves the first time we encounter such profound unprofessionalism. Even in the developing countries we lived in, the services were so much better. I would never trust them with our belongings anymore, and I will make sure to spread this information to our expat friends so that they won’t have an experience like this either. Ps. I checked the box that they didn’t damage anything, but obviously we have no idea about that just yet.
