ScanMovers & Meijers launch innovative moving insurance

Insurance broker Meijers and independent relocation platform ScanMovers have joined forces in launching a brand new moving insurance for both private and company moves. Result: the first moving platform that offers an accessible moving insurance for its users. The goal is to give every user, customer or mover, access to a good insurance, regardless of budget.

ScanMovers, the largest booking platform for movers in the Netherlands, enables the user to find the best possible moving company. The platform was previously in the news because of its research regarding the large price differences in the market. Maurits Koopman, founder of ScanMovers: "We noticed that a user-friendly platform and customer service alone are not always sufficient for a good all-round experience. A good insurance for both the client and the mover is the first big step towards a better moving experience for everyone."

Unique: premium per move, not per month

Our movers are professionals and know what they are doing. Nevertheless, sometimes damage does occur. The handling takes a lot of time, is often not standardised, and the premiums are high. The moving insurance that we launched is unique, as the premium is paid per move and not on a monthly basis. Koopman: "Until now, many moving companies were not able to take out a good moving insurance. Our economies of scale when purchasing of the insurance allows us to keep the premium affordable".

In addition, claims are handled independently and completely digitally by Meijers instead of the moving company herself. This prevents discussion about the resulting damage, responsibility, and costs.

The 150+ moving companies that are active on ScanMovers can offer the moving insurance via the platform, regardless of company size both in the Benelux and in Germany. The coverage of the end user reaches up to €100,000. “For such a well-insured move, customers used to pay a substantial additional fee. Fortunately, with our new product, this belongs to the past. Everybody should be able to move with peace of mind. Now, with the support we offer, our moving partners can focus on what they are good at: moving.”
